sysc-Go

Run terminal animations or use the animation library from Go.

sysc-Go provides terminal animations and text effects for Go programs. Its command-line tools are syscgo and syscgo-tui; sysc-terminal and sysc-walls use the library for desktop effects.

Source: default-branch commit 6fe292db · SYSC v0.1.3 status: dependency reference; the installer does not install a separate sysc-Go binary.

Run an effect

The CLI supports standalone animations such as fire, matrix rain, rain, fireworks, beams and aquarium. Text effects take a file containing text or ASCII art:

syscgo -effect fire -theme rama -duration 10
syscgo -effect matrix-art -file ./banner.txt -theme nord -duration 10

Duration is measured in seconds. Use -duration 0 for a continuing animation. Run syscgo -h in the installed version to inspect its accepted flags and effect names.

The interactive browser can preview effects and themes:

syscgo-tui

The TUI includes the BIT ASCII-art editor. Exported art goes to ~/.local/share/syscgo/assets/ by default; XDG_DATA_HOME changes that location. The CLI searches the given absolute path, the current directory, user assets and then system asset directories when it resolves a text file.

Install from source

The project README recommends Go 1.26 or later for building its commands. Install the CLI tools from the reviewed source commit with:

GOBIN="$HOME/.local/bin" go install github.com/Nomadcxx/sysc-Go/cmd/syscgo@562ad7bdf5353325e4589e55193a9a570f3d8cd8
GOBIN="$HOME/.local/bin" go install github.com/Nomadcxx/sysc-Go/cmd/syscgo-tui@562ad7bdf5353325e4589e55193a9a570f3d8cd8

For use as a library, add the reviewed module revision to your Go project:

go get github.com/Nomadcxx/sysc-Go@562ad7bdf5353325e4589e55193a9a570f3d8cd8

This project revision records go 1.24.2 in go.mod; the repository README asks command builders to use Go 1.26 or later. Check the target project's module version before upgrading a dependency. sysc-terminal, sysc-walls and sysc-shell can each use a different sysc-Go revision; the source record lists the revisions behind this site's guidance and the v0.1.3 module graph.

The commands run terminal effects. The sysc-terminal and sysc-walls integrations render through their own desktop processes and use their own dependency pins. See wallpaper ownership before running a desktop wallpaper process alongside the shell.
