Choose whether SYSC takes over a detected bar, shell or notification provider.
Service conflicts
SYSC checks for notification daemons, bars and shells that can compete with the suite. It can detect providers such as mako, dunst, swaync, fnott, Waybar, Noctalia, Quickshell shells and DMS.
Choose one action for each detected provider:
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Hand over | Stop and disable the provider's user unit when present. Comment its Niri startup line so SYSC can take over. SYSC records each change in its install stamp. |
| Keep both | Leave the provider enabled. Two bars or notification services may overlap or compete for the same interface. |
| Skip SYSC component | Do not enable or start that SYSC service. SYSC still downloads the pinned binary. |
The --yes default hands over notification daemons and keeps bars and shells, with a warning for each kept conflict. Use --keep-conflicts to keep all detected providers, or --handover=all to hand all of them over. Those flags cannot be combined.
When sysc-notify is enabled, SYSC also writes a user D-Bus activation file for org.freedesktop.Notifications. If it replaces an existing user activation file, the stamp records that file so uninstall can restore it.
Review the changes before accepting a handover. The installer does not replace an existing sysc-shell config. See upgrade for repeat installs and uninstall for the recorded restore steps.
