Troubleshooting

Collect read-only system and user-service details before recovery.

Run these checks as your normal user. They read system details and user-service status without restarting services or changing configuration.

For a failed install or upgrade, start with installer recovery. For an active user service, see service troubleshooting.

uname -m
cat /etc/os-release
printf 'WAYLAND_DISPLAY=%s\nNIRI_SOCKET=%s\n' "$WAYLAND_DISPLAY" "$NIRI_SOCKET"
systemctl --user --no-pager status sysc-shell.service

If the shell unit does not exist, use the exact unit name listed by the SYSC release you installed. Include the command output and your SYSC release when you ask for help. Do not prefix systemctl --user with sudo.

See greeter troubleshooting for greetd and lock troubleshooting for sysc-lock. Check compatibility before changing the install route.
