Install paths

SYSC installer-owned binaries, user units, config, state and backups.

Installer paths

SYSC writes its suite under the installing user's home and XDG directories:

PathContents
~/.local/binSuite executables. The installer keeps binaries here even when XDG_CONFIG_HOME is set.
~/.config/systemd/userSuite user units, or $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/systemd/user when XDG_CONFIG_HOME is absolute.
~/.config/sysc-shell/config.jsonSeeded shell configuration, or $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/sysc-shell/config.json. Existing files stay in place.
~/.config/niri/config.kdlNiri configuration, or $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/niri/config.kdl. SYSC adds an include for its sidecar.
~/.config/niri/sysc.kdlSYSC-owned Niri bindings sidecar. The installer rewrites it on reruns and removes it on uninstall.
~/.local/state/sysc/installed.jsonInstall stamp, or $XDG_STATE_HOME/sysc/installed.json. It records the release, component versions, unit-start status and handovers.
~/.local/state/sysc/installer.logGuided installer log, or the corresponding XDG state path.
~/.local/state/sysc/backupsTimestamped Niri config copies. SYSC also keeps the first copy beside the Niri config as config.kdl.sysc.bak.
~/.local/share/dbus-1/servicesUser notification activation file, or $XDG_DATA_HOME/dbus-1/services. SYSC writes it when sysc-notify is selected.

XDG_CONFIG_HOME, XDG_STATE_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME override their defaults only when each value is an absolute path. See uninstall for files and user data that remain afterward.
